It's been a while.
I have officially been accepted to Sheridan's BAA - Animation program.

it's my online 'sketchbook'.
I'm in the middle of working on an oil painting which I hope to complete within the next week or so and will be posting to the aforementioned sketchbook thread.

I'm down to the final 10 days before portfolios are due and, with all of the stress and pressure that's building up, I felt somewhat reassured reading my horoscope this morning:
"Your creativity is a wonderful skill that can open some pretty important doors. So why not use it more often? You don't always have to come up with the most innovative ideas in the room in order to create real results for yourself, so don't put yourself under that kind of pressure. Creativity is not encouraged by stress. Approach the current problems from your own personal perspective - only then, when you're not looking thorugh someone else's lens, can you truly get inspired"

On my dashboard I have a list of things I want to do after the portfolio season is over.
One of them is to create a new blog.
I've decided that if / when I get accepted into either animation or illustration I will set out to making a decent blog which i will attempt to update very regularly with plenty of images.
Back to portfolioing i go . . .

I've decided that not only do I want to apply to the Bachelor of Applied Arts - Illustration program at Sheridan next year, but the Animation program as well.
Both are four year courses and both are exceptionally competitive (animation, more so).
Unfortunately for me this means double the amount of portfolio work.
However, I feel that if I don't apply to both I will regret it later.
As the portfolio deadlines draw nearer I will post my completed artwork here (or, at least, im hoping I will).
My current progress is:
Illustration Portfolio: 39% Complete
Animation Portfolio: 5% Complete
Time Remaining: 40 Days

I wasn't aware that the former was available until the date of elective selections.
I think Prometheus and Orpheus are a bit cooler than Dracula.

I'm torn between:
Living with the Undead
Introduces students to the vampire in myth, literature and film, and examines the ways in which the figure of the vampire has been continuously reshaped by Western society to reflect changing sexual and social values.

Hello, Friends.
I've been slacking.
But I promise that over Christmas Break, which begins in two weeks, I will post an abundance of the projects I've completed at Sheridan thus far (drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc.).
Also, since I plan on completing my Animation and Illustration portfolios over the break, I will attempt to post those as well. (Feedback would be wonderful).
Finally, I'm hoping that I will do some of my own paintings/drawings over the break which I will also attempt to post.
I've got a lot on my plate.

It's reading week and I've finally found some time to post some art.
These drawings are from the first few weeks of life drawing class (minus the clay sculpture).
Im hoping that as the semester comes to an end, and as i post more of my drawings here, I will be able to notice somewhat of an improvement.
(cross your fingers).

The strangest thing has happened and I am posting it here more to humor myself than anything.
The other night I watched the movie Hot Fuzz which happens to star Jim Broadbent - a (biased) favorite of mine for playing Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge.
I have also been reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in which i have recently been introduced to the character Horace Slughorn.
As with most novels, I have the habit of linking characters with famous celebrities.
Needless to say, as I've been reading Harry Potter I keep picturing an eccentric (and bald) Harold Zidler wherever Slughorn is mentioned.
To my point: While reading random blogs and such I have stumbled upon one which announces Jim Broadbent to be playing Horace Slughorn in the upcoming Harry Potter film. IMDB.com has comfirmed this.
Lamest livejournal ever but it just weirded me right out!
And, i have to say, they've picked a perfect person for the role!
I just cant get over that one minute i was thinking it and the next minute it was . ..real?

I don't know whether its the growing influence of Ellen Degeneres, Art, or both but I've decided that I'm not at a place in my life where I would like to be.
I want to do so much more.
I want to create change with a positive outcome.

While studying all things art is great,
it is also very time-consuming and meticulous.
Needless to say, I've been very busy with an abundance of assignments (and being sure to read . . .and watch Ellen Degeneres. . . in my down-time).
Hopefully, though, I will be posting some pictures tonight of some of the work I've done in case anyone is interested!
